The effects of nitrous oxide wear off soon after treatment, so you can get back to your daily activities right after your appointment.

Oral Sedation: With oral sedation, you will take medication orally before treatment for a deeper level of calm and relaxation. You may feel drowsy and may even drift off into a light sleep, but you will remain conscious and responsive during treatment. Many patients remember little, if any, of their time during treatment. The effects of the oral sedatives can linger, so you’ll need a trusted adult to drive you home for your safety.

IV Sedation: For patients with severe dental anxiety or phobia or those in need of complex or lengthy treatments, Dr. Blackmon may recommend IV sedation. A certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) will administer your IV sedation and monitor you throughout treatment for your safety. You’ll remain conscious during treatment but will likely have no recollection of your treatment. We request that a trusted adult accompany you and drive you home for your safety.
